Obituary for Mrs. Monika Bon (Cienci)
With heavy hearts the family of Mrs. Monika Bon announce her peaceful passing, at age 72, on Friday, October 6, 2017 in St. Joseph’s Hospice, surrounded by her family.
Monika was born in Rokosovo, Poland on May 26, 1945. In 1963 she moved to Canada with her parents and sisters. She resided in Toronto, where she worked as a nurses aid at Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Later, she moved to Thunder Bay and worked as a nurses aid at Beacon Hill Lodge. She met the love of her life, Jozef, in 1974 and they were married a year later.
Her passions were her children and her garden. She made the world’s best pierogies. She also greatly enjoyed crocheting.
Monika is survived by her loving husband Jozef; son Dennis (Frances); daughter Margaret; grandchildren Francesca and Carolina; sisters Linda Waltos and Isabella Mayjuk; as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
She was predeceased by her parents Albert and Maryann of Thunder Bay.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at 2:00pm in EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley St. at Algoma with Fr. Luigi Filippini officiating. Interment will follow in St. Andrew’s Cemetery.
