It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, Mona Mary Furlong, daughter of the late Garwin and Jane Carnegie (nee McCauley). Surrounded by her family, Mona passed away peacefully at the Pembroke Regional Hospital on Sunday August 13, 2017 at the age of 92.
Mona was the loving wife of the late Eldon Robert Furlong. Dear mother of Colleen (Ross) Johns, Bob (Lynda) Furlong, Mary Jane (Bob) McConnell, Katherine (Joel) Nieman and proud Nana of 10 grandchildren. Daina (Eric) Kaluzny and Vanessa (Joel) Sant; Kali (Ryan) Best, Jason and Shaun Furlong; Chase, Cole and Madison McConnell; Josh Nieman, Emma (Jordan) Dombroskie. Great-grandmother (GiGi) of Macy and Peyton. Mona was also looking forward to the arrival of her third great-grandchild in September. Mona missed the company of many predeceased dear friends and family, especially her dear friend and sister-in-law Carmel Durocher.
As a telephone operator with Bell Canada, Mona looked back fondly on her long standing career and cherished the friendships that continued into retirement.
Our family would like to thank the caring staff of the Pembroke Regional Hospital Rehab Unit for their comfort and support.
Visitation will be held at the Malcolm, Deavitt and Binhammer Funeral Home, 141 Renfrew St., Pembroke on Friday, August 18, 2017 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday August 19, 2017 from 2-3 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Wesley United Church, Pembroke on Saturday August 19, 2017 at 3:30 p.m. followed by Interment at Wesley United Cemetery. In Mona’s memory, donations can be made to Wesley United Church or the Pembroke Regional Hospital Rehab Unit. Online donations and condolences can be made at www.mdbfuneralhome.com.
