Mme Monika Dose-Badih - 1944

Mme Monika Dose-Badih – 1944 • 2017

Here we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Monika Badih, at the age of 72. On August 25th, 2017, shortly after midday, Monika passed away peacefully with all her children by her side. Monika endured, with astounding grace, a long and difficult recovery from a serious car accident in 2003. She was the strongest and bravest of warriors.
Imagine a life given to this world that would see beauty in all surroundings. Hope in all situations. A life that offered only love, support, and understanding to comfort any wounded soul. Our mother gave us just that, with devotion so far beyond what could be expected. Not only to her children, Monika also spread this sacred care and kindness to all people, animals, and even plants that graced her presence.
Born on December 31, 1944 in Kiel, Germany, Monika Badih was daughter to Walter Gustav Dose and Marie Johanna Dose. Sister to Uve and Antje. She lovingly and tirelessly raised 4 adoring children to adulthood; daughters Julia Badih, Soraya Fabro (Ted Fabro), Mariam Badih (Stefan Nolet), and son David Badih (Van Dinh).
Monika worked with will, bravery and unwavering dedication to advancing the cause of safety and independence for (abused) women and their children in need of refuge and shelter. She worked in Montreal, Toronto, Akwesasne, and Barrie, building and directing strengthened communities in women’s shelters. Monika counselled women in groups and individually; an aspect of her career she found most fulfilling. She only wanted everyone to be well; she truly was a lover of life. No person was unworthy of kindness, comfort, or reassurance. Hers was the purest of compassion, of self-sacrifice, and of love.
Monika loved many cultures, music, and philosophies. Her faith was in the Divine, and she took the teachings of Jesus to heart. She explored life through travel, dancing, gatherings, and homemaking, which she adored. She sang and she laughed with us. Monika believed that the world was truly beautiful… she was the shining example that allowed us to see that world.
A memorial service and celebration of Monika’s life will be held on September 16th, at 2pm, at Monika’s home in Montreal. Please RSVP for address and directions: davidbadih@gmail.com or contact us @ 514- 508-4120.
Anyone who cannot attend is encouraged to share a written message or story to the email address above that will be read at the memorial and cherished as a loving memory of the difference Monika made.
