Minnie Ida DeWolfe – 2016

Of Three Mile Plains, Hants Co., passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2016 in Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth. Born on March 14, 1923 in Mount Denson, she was a daughter of the late Athlon and Eva (MacDonald) Rooney.
She attended the Provincial Normal College, Truro and taught school for seven years in Hants County prior to her marriage in 1950. She was a member of Windsor United Baptist Church where she served on various committees. She was a Dominion Life Member of the Women’s Missionary Societies of Canada and Seniors Serving Seniors of Windsor United Baptist Church; former Member of the West Hants Historical Society and the Charter President of the former Three Mile Plains Home and School Association. She taught various classes in the former Union Sunday School of Three Mile Plains and was a member of the Sunday School Auxiliary. Her interests included reading, correspondence, needlework, lexicon, gardening, her friends, her family and her home.
She is survived by her son, David, Dartmouth/Three Mile Plains; daughter, Deborah Scott and son-in-law, Phillip Scott, Hantsport; brother, Walter Rooney and partner, Lillian Hawkes; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Reid G. DeWolfe in 1975; brothers and sisters-in-law, Sheldon (Alice) Rooney, DeWitt (Jeanne) Rooney; sister-in-law, Myrtle (John) Stewart; sisters-in-law, Bertha Rooney, Edna (Russell) Marr, Pearl DeWolfe and Ruth (George) Westhaver.
Special thank you to all of the staff at Haliburton Place and especially the Osprey staff at the Windsor Elms Village. You were our second family providing her with understanding, love, care and compassion.
Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where the family will receive visitors from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 7. A memorial service celebrating Minnie’s life will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, December 8 in Windsor United Baptist Church, 411 King St., Windsor, Rev. Rob Heffernan officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory of Minnie may be made to the Windsor Baptist Church, Mt Denson Baptist Church, Windsor Elms Village Chaplaincy Fund or charity of one’s choice.
