With much sadness we announce Roy’s passing with family at his side, at the Cowichan District Hospital in Duncan, BC.
The firstborn child of Fred and Clara Miller, Roy lived his entire life in the Cowichan Valley area. Roy was employed all his working life as a longshoreman and retired after forty years working in ports from Victoria to Port Alberni.
Roy was predeceased by his parents and his brothers, Clark and Alan. He is survived by his four sons, Wade (Debbie), Dean (Connie), Mark (Kim) and Neil (Jessica) and six grandchildren Chelsea, Alexandra, Taryn, Tristan, Evan and Quinne. Roy is also survived by his sisters Florence and Joyce and brothers Irvin and Robert and their families. Also left to mourn his passing is his close friend and companion Shelby Hansen and her family and lifelong friend Claude Parnell.
In his younger years Roy enjoyed hunting and fishing and from an early age his sons accompanied him and learned skills from their father.
His sons were his pride and joy. During their teenage years of playing football Roy was always on the sidelines of each game cheering them on.
Roy has left us with many memories to hold dear to our hearts.
A Celebration of Life will be held at H.W. Wallace Cremation and Burial Centre, 5285 Polkey Road, Duncan, BC on Friday, November 24, 2017 at 1:00 PM. Family and friends are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
At a later date Roy’s ashes will be spread at one of his favorite spots.
