O’CONNOR, Mildred Catherine – Age 94,
Riverside, Guysborough Co., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October
10, 2017, in the Milford Haven Home for Special Care, Guysborough.
Born in Guysborough on October 16, 1922, she was a daughter of the
late Charles and Amelia (Andrews) Lucas.
Mildred worked as a telephone operator for a number of years
and was the Postmistress at the Boylston Post Office and drove the
rural mail to Guysborough Intervale. She was a member of St.
Ann’s Parish, Guysborough. She was a long time President of
the Ladies Auxiliary of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 81 in
Guysborough. She also delivered Meals on Wheels for a long period of
time.
Surviving are her children, Marie (Leon) Ehler, Hamilton,
Ont; Anne Mae (Andy Campbell), Lake Egmont; David (Myrtle), Dartmouth;
Marilyn (John), Timberlea; daughter-in-law, Rose, Antigonish; sister,
Vivian, Mount Clements, USA; numerous grandchildren and
great-grandchildren as well as several great-great-grandchildren. She
was predeceased by her husband, Lewis; sons, Edward and Joseph;
sister, Carrie; brothers, Charles and Lawrence.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday in
Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough. Funeral mass will be 2
p.m. Friday from St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church,
Guysborough with Father Callistus Abazie officiating. Burial will
follow in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to The
Canadian Diabetes Association or to Milford Haven Home for Special
Care, Guysborough. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at
