Mildred Berniece (Brawner) Knight – October 2, 1920 – June 18, 2017 (age 96)

It is with sadness that we announce the death of (Mildred) Berniece Knight on June 18, 2017. Mom was born on the farm at Tees on October 2, 1920. She was predeceased by her husband Reg of 63 years in 2007, her parents Allen & Millie Brawner, brothers Sheldon and Vernon Buckles, Elsie Neuman, Eileen Robinson and great-grandson Colton Pierson.
Left to celebrate her 96 years of life are her children Juanita Knight, Marjorie (Ern) Russell and Jack (Terry) Knight; grandchildren Valerie Russell, Ellen (Owen) Pierson, David (Charla) Russell and Sarah (Chris) Adams; great-grandchildren Emma, Rebecca, Laura, Kurtus, Daniel, Noah, Ben, Zane and Scarlett.
Mom attended school in Tees, Normal School in Calgary and was very proud to have played on the Calgary Normal School basketball team. She taught at Lundgren, Nebraska, Bluffton and Mecca Glen. Teaching grade 1 was a highlight in her career. She was always the teacher and instilled a life long love of learning in everyone she met. Mom was also instrumental in compiling and publishing the Land of the Lakes local history book.
A Memorial Celebration of Mom’s remarkable life will be held at the Nebraska Hall (Highway 12 east to Tees and north 5 miles on highway 821) on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service and lots of time for remembrances, visiting and lunch.
