On September 3, 2017 at the Cornwall Community Hospital in his 98th year. Retired Judge with the Ontario Court of Justice. Michael was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland on January 24, 1920. Although he lived most of his life away from his birthplace, the Island was always in his heart and his visits home were very precious to him.
He was predeceased by his parents William Fitzpatrick and Christine Ronayne, his first wife Tina Laframboise and their infant daughter Kathleen, his brother John Fitzpatrick O.S.O., and his sisters Christine and Theresa.
He is survived by his ever dear wife of 40 years Sheila, his children Michael (Donna), Kristine (Kevin) and Paul (Kathy). Sheila’s children Richard (Marilyn), Lynne (Liz), Georgie Ann, Janet (late Mark) and daughter-in-law Gayle (late Robert) and his sisters Carmel (John), Mary and Bernadette.
He was dearly attached to his grandchildren Sarah, Aidan, Kyle, Taylor, Shaylyn, Dane, Lothar and Harry and his step grandchildren Michelle, Richard, Catherine, Adam, Chelsea, Aimee, Jenny and Brian; his great grandchildren Keaton, Adelyne, Blakely, Porter, Archer, Burke and William and step great grandchildren Willem, Rowan and Sam. They all brought much joy to his life. He sadly accepted the fact that all but one of his dear companions (Dr. Richard Parisien) had predeceased him.
As for his professional life, Michael had a full and rewarding career in the law both as a Judge and Lawyer.
Resting at Wilson Funeral Home, 822 Pitt Street, Cornwall, Ontario where visitation will be held on Thursday, September 7, from 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM. A private family service will follow immediately after in the chapel of the funeral home.
