Michael passed away peacefully at New Horizons Community of Care in Campbell River, BC. on Aug. 15, 2017 at the age of 82. Michael was born in Lampman, SK., on Aug. 15, 1935. He grew up in Willmar and Alameda, SK., on the family farm and attended schools at Sandringham and Alameda. In the early 60’s Michael moved to the Island where he obtained work with the lumber and paper mills, and started a family. He liked the Island and he enjoyed occasionally going back to the Prairies to visit family. Living most of his later years in Port Alberni, Michael decided to move to Campbell River to be closer to his children and grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his stepson Carey, son Clint and parents Albert and Verna (Lario) Enevoldsen.
He leaves to mourn his daughter Michele (Richard) Bertle; son Marcus (Maryanne); stepson Bill Young (Heidi). He also leaves his grandchildren: Cody, Mackenzie, Mercedes, Allen, Kelsy and Andrew; brother Earl (Sheila); sisters, Frances (Randell) Moore and Christina (Louis) Ludlam; brothers, Harvey (Shirley) and Harry (Bev); many nieces, nephews and extended family.
A private family committal service will take place at the Alameda Cemetery, Alameda, SK. on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Jason Schultz officiating.
Friends are then invited to join the family at the Merry Makers in Alameda at approximately 3:30 p.m. for a time of lunch and fellowship. Everyone is invited to attend the lunch.
Donations in memory of Michael may be directed to the charity of one’s choice.
Michael will be dearly missed by all who knew him. A special thank you to the staff at New Horizons and to Dr. R. Sutherland and Dr. Debruin for their excellent compassionate care of our dad and also for their comfort and support at this difficult time.
