Passed away at Lennox and Addington Hospital, Napanee on Sunday August 6, 2017 at the age of 49. Beloved husband of Catherine (nee Hooey). Loving father of Christopher Haggerty (Stephanie), Michelle Haggerty and Travis Haggerty (Caitlyn). Proud grandfather of his grandbabies Cameron, Logan, Keegan and Kylie. Brother of the late Mike, Bob, Debbie McGruthers (late Mike), Lori Burke (Tom), Lisa Miller (Grant), Steven Haggerty, Janet (Chuck), Brian Haggerty and Bradley Haggerty, and brother-in-law of Tereasa Cadieux (Pierre), Cindy Armstrong (Paul), Jim Hooey – Foote (Mike), Orville Hooey (April) and Debbie Sovie (Ralph. Remembered and missed by many nieces, nephews and friends. Melvin was an avid hunter and fisherman and always enjoyed family camping trips. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday August 11, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. at MacCoubrey Funeral Home 30 King St. E., Cobourg. Memorial donations may be made to the Diabetes Association.
