35 year lineman and foreman with the P.U.C
Passed away peacefully in his sleep at home following a lengthy illness with family by his side. Loving wife of 60 years to Beverly Robinson. Proud father of John (Heather), Heather (Chris), and David (Gillian). Devoted grandfather of Kate (Drew), Robbie (Victoria), Sarah (Rob), Michael (Kaitlin), Melissa, and Emily (Mitch). Special grandfather to Christian (Torie and little Josslyn), Austin, and Joey. Proud great grandfather of Spencer “little Duke”. Loving brother to the late Bill (the late Molly), the late Ron (Lydia), Carol (Wayne), and Eileen (Alan). Special brother-in-law to Sylvia (Robert), Wendy, Jane (Walter), and Reid (Mary Lou). Sadly missed by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Family and friends are invited to the Gordon F. Tompkins Funeral Home, 435 Davis Drive (Centennial and Taylor-Kidd Blvd) Friday January 5th 2018 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm.
Legion/Ladies Auxiliary Service at the Funeral Home at 7pm.
Funeral Service In Our Chapel Saturday January 6th 2018 at 11am. Reception to follow at Legion Branch 560 (734 Montreal St.). Private family graveside burial in the spring.
Donations in Mel’s name can be made to The War Amps or Royal Canadian Legion Branch 560 Poppy Fund.
