Obituary Overview
In Loving Memory
It is with great sadness that the family of Maurice (Moe) Lamirande, age 88, of Amherst, NS, announce his peaceful passing on December 18th, 2017, at Gables Lodge, Amherst, NS.
Born in Arvida, QC, he was the son of the late Paul and Yvonne Lamirande.
Moe will be greatly missed by his wife Jeanne, daughters: Doris (Stephen) of Dartmouth, NS, Lise (Blair) of Stoney Plains, AB, Linda of Amherst, NS, Janet of Calgary, AB, Wendy (Ken) of Brandon, MB and sons: Gary (Deb) of Calgary, AB, and Paul of Vancouver, BC. Sister Muguette of Montreal, QC, brother Gaston of Alma, QC as well as 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Moe was predeceased by sisters: Florence, Georgette, Thérèse, Monique, Carol and brothers: Roger, Charles, J.P. and Jacques, as well as several siblings in infancy.
Moe was a dedicated iron worker at Robbs Engineering in Amherst, NS for 35 years. He was an exceptional hockey player in his day, and he was proudly inducted into the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame in 2008. A man of faith, he regularly attended mass at the St. Charles Roman Catholic Church. Moe was a very sociable and well known man and could often be found around town, enjoying a coffee at Tim Hortons or visiting friends.
Cremation has taken place under the care of Campbell’s Funeral Home, Amherst, NS (902-667-9906) and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
