Maurice Harkala
1926 – 2017
On December 7 th , Maurice Harkala passed away peacefully at the age of 91. Son of Tekla Wrobel and
Alexander Harkala. Loving father of John (Jacinte) and Caroline (Farid). Loving grandfather of Maissa,
Rahmi and Léo. Loving brother of Sophie Hnatchuck and Andrew Harkala.
Born, Miroslaw Harkala in Sanok, Poland on May 22. 1926, a small town near Ukraine which he
considered his nation.
He came to Canada in the late 30’s. Raised his family in Verdun. Loved his country home in Saint-Gabriel.
Enjoyed retirement in Pompano Beach, Florida and spent his later days at the Cambridge in Pointe-
Claire.
He was a gentle and generous man. He loved the ocean beaches, golfing and was a great dancer, even
until the age of 90.
Maurice Harkala’s funeral and service will take place at JJCardinal, 560 Lakeshore, Dorval, on December
23 rd from 10H00 to 17H30.
