Of Lower Sackville, passed away peacefully at home with her loving family by her side on Friday, December 2, 2016 at the age of 91.
Mary was devoted to her family, home was always busy with friends and family, dinner gatherings and Saturday night card games. Mary was a meticulous, hardworking homemaker, as well as a cherished caregiver to numerous children of family and friends. She will be lovingly remembered for her generosity in lending a helping hand to all those in need.
Mary will be deeply missed by her loving children Brenda (Pat), Deborah, Stephen (Patty); devoted grandchildren Kayla (Court), Johnathan (Laura), Ash (Skylar) and Jason; and her great-grandchild Lilah; brothers, Earl, Mike (Rita) and Francis (Lois); sisters-in-law June, Marie (Paul), Bev, Patsy, Barb and Madelyn; many nieces, nephews and extended family. She was predeceased by her beloved husband John “Brother” Cookson and her dear son Glen Cookson; sisters Pearl, Joan and Anna; brothers, Roy and Gerard; sisters-in-law Judy, Eileen, and Dot; brothers-in-law Wayne, Jimmy, Johnny, and Roy.
A visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 6 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 7 at 11 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 125 Metropolitan Ave. For those wishing, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada would be appreciated.
