Obituary for Mary Meka Kroeker (Bargen)
MARY (MEKA) KROEKER
Peacefully on October 16, 2017, Mary passed away at the age of 92.
She was predeceased by her husband Walter (Rusty). Left to cherish her memory are her children
Robert (Joyce), Janet (Dave) Thiessen, and David (Adrienne), 14 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren
and many relatives and friends.
Mary was born in Sagradowka (a Mennonite settlement) in Russia (now Ukraine). She
immigrated to Canada in 1930 as a young child with her parents Frank P. and Elizabeth Bargen and
three older siblings, Frank, Peter and Lisa.
Mary’s highest priority was caring for and spending time with her family. She made many friends over the years and loved to keep in touch with her faithful letter writing or telephone calls. We will miss her love and caring, her spontaneous sense of humour and that special gleam in her eye. She was a joy to visit and always made us feel cherished and appreciated.
Mary held strong to her faith in Jesus to the very end of her earthly life, and she was confident that she would go to be with her Lord and Saviour. The family continues to cherish this legacy of faith that she left for us.
We thank the wonderful staff at St. Norbert Personal Care Home for their compassion and care over the last 2 years.
An informal Celebration of Life is planned for 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at the Fort Garry MB Church reception hall, 1771 Pembina Hwy, Winnipeg.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gilly Graham Evangelistic Association of Canada.
