Mary Kohut
March 13, 1928 – April 6, 2017
Surrounded by the love of her family, Mary Kohut passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Home on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at the age of 89 years.
Mary was born in Ukraine on March 13, 1928 and in 1946 she married Nick Kohut. They moved to Belgium and in 1951 came to Canada and settled in Saskatoon where they had resided since. Mary was employed with St. Paul’s Hospital for 34 years prior to her retirement. Cooking was Mom’s specialty. She enjoyed preparing and cooking perogies and cabbage rolls and sharing them with family and friends, as well as her bountiful vegetables from her beautiful garden. At leisure Mary and Nick enjoyed their cabin at Watrous Manitou Beach. Mom will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Mary is survived by her daughter Stella (Bill) Romaniuk of Saskatoon; son Walter (Sandra) Kohut of California, USA; four grandchildren Stefanie (Victor) Iula, Stacey (Edmond) Syrenne, Curtis (Andria) Kohut, Russell (Roszlynn) Kohut; and six great-grandchildren Isabella, Roman, Mason, Emily, Keyerra, and Karsyn.
She was predeceased by her husband, Nick in 1987; parents, John and Maria (Krytowich) Melnyk; four brothers, Wasyl, Nick, Fred, and Harry Melnyk.
A Private Family Service with interment at Woodlawn Catholic Cemetery.
We wish to thank the Sisters and staff for the loving care mom received at St. Joseph’s during her stay.
