HARDIE (MacKay), Mary Jane
– Age 98, Port Hawkesbury, passed away peacefully in the
Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home on Tuesday, October 3, 2017. Born in
Kingsville, Inverness Co., she was a daughter of the late Angus and
Mary (MacDonald) MacKay.
She is survived by her son, John and granddaughters, Kathleen
and Christina, all of Australia; sister-in-law, Marjorie
MacKenzie-MacKay, St. Peter’s. She was predeceased by her
husband, Thomas; brothers, John A., Dan, Peter, Joe, Donald R., Jimmy,
Alex Francis; sisters, Florence and Jessie Graham.
The family would like to give thanks to the care provided by
Inverness County Home Support and to the staff of the Port Hawkesbury
Nursing Home. Additionally a very special thank you to Carmelita
MacIsaac, whose selfless care for my mother over many years cannot be
adequately put into words.
Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. on Friday in Dennis
Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass will be 11 a.m.
Saturday from St. Mary of the Angels Roman Catholic Church, Glendale
with Father Joe MacKenzie officiating. Burial will follow in the
parish cemetery. Memorial donations to the Father John Angus Rankin
Cultural Centre would be greatly appreciated. Words of comfort may be
