Age 92 of Dartmouth passed away peacefully Friday February 24, 2017 at Dartmouth General Hospital.
Born in Wallace Station, she was a daughter of the late John and Beatrice (Colter) McKinnon.
Gertie was predeceased by her husband, Murray; brothers Jimmy, Franny, Donnie, Gerry, Karl, Bernie; and her sister, Muriel (Terris).
She will be missed by her children Larry (Linda), London, Ont; Debby (John) Wilson, Braeshore; Joan, Halifax; Marion, Dartmouth; Mark (Christine), Eastern Passage; grandchildren Nicole, Lauren, Cavan, Claire, Mathew, and Julia; great-grandchildren, Molly and Keaton; sister, Marion McKinnon, Dartmouth; brother Al (Norma) McKinnon, Moncton, NB; and several nieces and nephews.
Gertie was a lifelong member of the CWL and member of the RCMP Veterans Association.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to a charity of choice.
Cremation has taken place. A funeral mass will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 1 2017 at 10 am. A private family burial will take place at a later date in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens.
