(January 16 1930 November 22 2017)
It is with deep sorrow that the family of Marion Noel Gould, announce her passing on Wednesday, November 22, 2017.
Marion was born in Sioux Lookout ON, on January 16th, 1930 to parents, Pat and Anna Edye. She was predeceased by her husband Condon, son David Gerald and her siblings, Gordon, Warren, Grace and Dorothy.
Marion is survived by her children Jeffrey (Jerri), Gordon (Connie), Terry (Penny), Janice (Shane), Robert (Lori) and Roger (Renee), grandchildren Jennifer, Jamie, Robbie, Delmarie, Lyndsay, Melissa, Drew, Steven, Ryan, Elizebeth, Samantha, Casey, Patrick, Katie, Kerry, Derrick, Tara, Ashley and Matthew, 17 great grandchildren, sister Patricia Edye of Sioux Lookout, sister in-law Edna White (Edward), as well as numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Mame and Con first met in Sioux Lookout and were married in Dryden, on May 16th, 1950 in the original St. Luke’s Anglican Church. With Con working at CNR, they moved from Sioux Lookout to Hudson, Reddit, Winnipeg and then finally settling down in Dryden in the fall of 1964 when they purchased Johnson Electric which is now Gould’s BrandSource. With Con running the business, Mame took care of the kids and the books, she was the anchor that allowed Con to focus on growing the store where the motto of treating everyone like “One of the Family” became ingrained. They both did take the occasional break with the whole family in the summer and spent their time at Silver Birch Lodge in Reddit where many life long friendships started, Jody and Barb Hines, their children and many others who became part of the family. Mame enjoyed her leisure time sewing (for everyone), knitting, spending time at their camp on Ghost Lake and gardening.
In the late 80’s, Mame and Con started their winter vacations in Florida where they continued to gain many more great friends.
After Con’s passing in 2014, Mame eventually moved into Princess Court. She enjoyed meeting many of the residents and appreciated all of the support she had from the staff, her favorite activity was Tuesday Sing-a-Longs and she continued with her attitude of caring for others while shrugging off her own physical ailments. She was visited and supported by her family and she was very proud of all her children and grandchildren.
A Memorial Funeral Service will be held Monday November 27th, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Luke’s Anglican Church with Pastor Michael Bergman officiating. A private interment will be held in the Dryden Cemetery.
If friends and family so wish, donations in Mame’s honour can be made to the Princess Court DECO or DRHC Foundation through Stevens Funeral Homes P.O. Box 412, Dryden ON P8N 2Z1. Condolences may be posted at www.stevensfuneralhomes.ca
