Marion Delores “Mickie” Reade
– 87, formerly of Kentville, passed away Thursday, November
16, 2017 in the Wolfville Nursing Home. Born in New Germany, she was a
daughter of the late Kenneth and Luella (Conrad) Mailman. In her
younger years, she had been employed with the Steadman’s
Store and Mader’s Tobacco Store, both in Kentville. She was
active in community affairs, especially the Apple Blossom Festival,
where she designed several floats that paraded Apple Blossom
Princesses. She enjoyed drawing and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.
She is survived by two sons, Ken (Anne), North Alton; Mike (Darlene),
Riverview, NB; four grandchildren, Ken, Charlie, Nancy and Jimmy; 11
great grandchildren, Peyton, Sawyer, Hannah, Trystan, Emily, Jaxon,
Charlie, Cecelia, William, Benjamin and Everly; nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her former husband, Stuart; two sisters,
Bernice Shepard and Phyllis Hale; a brother, Merville
“Ace”, and a brother Burpee (in infancy). Cremation
has taken place. There will be no visitation, by request. A private
family memorial service will take place at a later date. Donations in
memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Canadian
Cancer Society or the Wolfville Nursing Home. Arrangements have been
entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
Kentville.
