Obituary Overview
Marie Kasian
Marie Kasian
During her sleep on November 28, 2017, our beloved Marie (also known as Meme) passed away.
Honoring her wishes, the following obituary was written by Marie.
“I was born in 1923, April 15th, in Gorlitz, Saskatchewan.
My sister Jean and two brothers Willie and John are now deceased.
My first job was in Yorkton, SK, at a 5 & 10 cent store. Then I moved to Regina and worked in beauty salon. My next move was to Atikokan, ON, where I worked in a department store in the men’s section. My final move was to Winnipeg, where I worked at Eaton’s Mail Order, Christy Biscuits, Burns & Co., and Robinson Little & Co., where I worked until retirement at the age of 62.
After retiring, I started a little business making peroghys. I loved to go dancing and this is where I met many of my great long time friends. Other favorite activities were bowling and aerobics. In 1980, I took up square dance calling (Western Style). For 3 years I ran the dances at the Poplar and Brazier Centre.
I loved flowers and always had a yard full of them. In 1996, I won an award of merit for my yard full of all kinds of blossoms. I enjoyed children, elderly folks and animals. Very good and kind neighbours, truly special are Bonnie & Mark and Nettie.”
The lightning of a summer storm,
its thunder roaring in reply,
reveal to us an awesome God,
whose power we cannot deny.
In our daily life and service
let us be disciples true,
being meek when others hurt us,
Lord, in us may they see you.
Marie will be laid to rest in a private service at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Donations in memory of Marie may be made to the Salvation Army or any animal charity of your choice.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Marie Kasian 2017.source
