Marie “Bertha” Megarity
1923-2017
It is with heavy hearts the family of Marie
“Bertha” Megarity, wife of the late William
Megarity, announce her passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on
Thursday, October 26, 2017. Born on February 5, 1923 in Rogersville,
NB, she was the daughter of Jean-Pierre and Marie (Breault) Arseneault
and the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Bertha moved to Saint John as a young woman where she married
and raised a family of seven with her husband William. She will be
greatly missed by her children: Paul (Sharon) Megarity, Susan
Megarity, Joan (Jim) McKillop, Eric (Suzanne) Megarity, Judy (Gary)
Driscoll, Cathy (Carl) Stephenson and Jane (Kevin) Kane;
grandchildren: Colleen, Trevor, Jamie, Mark, Erica, Luke, Travis,
Kelsi, Andrew, Michelle, Amy, Brett and Cody; six great-grandchildren
and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bertha was a dedicated mother, an avid scrabble and card
player, and a talented artist. She took great pride in her work,
especially her hand painted Christmas cards, which family and friends
always looked forward to receiving.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of
Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint
John, NB (634-7424). In keeping with Bertha’s
wishes there will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be
celebrated from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 31 Gondola Point
Road, Rothesay, NB on Monday, October 30, 2017 at 11:00 AM. A private
family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers,
remembrances in memory of Bertha may be made to Bobby’s
Hospice.
