Proctor, Marguerite Anne
“Margie” – age 63 years of Evanston,
Richmond Co. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a
much loved wife, mother, sister, aunt and cousin on Saturday, November
25, 2017 at home.
Born in Antigonish, she was a daughter of the late George
Allen and Sarah “Sadie” Catherine (MacLean) MacQuarrie.
Margie is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Ron; sons,
Kevin, Ottawa; Mark (Kim) and Dan all of Halifax; sisters, Muriel
(Willard) MacDonald, Hopewell; Julia (late Murdo) MacKinnon, Port
Hawkesbury; brother, Darrell (Trish) MacQuarrie, Pleasant Hill and
their families. She was predeceased by brothers, James, Dan Allan, and
infant brother, John.
Margie was a member of St. David’s United Church,
Port Hastings. Margie had a great love for and enjoyed doing crafts,
she was skillful at many crafts including, drawing, quilting, and
cross stitching. She accepted her diagnosis of lung cancer without
complaint and dealt with it with quiet dignity for seven and a half
years. She walked quietly and gently through this world but with
fierce determination! Friends and family valued her ideas and wise
input. We all knew our “secrets” were safe with her!
Margie was always concerned about how others were doing more than
about herself.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m.
Wednesday, November 29 in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port
Hawkesbury. Funeral service will be held Thursday November 30 at 11
a.m. from St. David’s United Church, Port Hastings with Rev.
Heather Manuel officiating. Burial will follow in St.
David’s Cemetery, Port Hastings. Memorial donations in
memory of Margie may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation
of Nova Scotia or St. David’s Cemetery Fund. Words of
