Margarete (Marguerite) Maria Kalina (nee Binder) - December 4th

Margarete (Marguerite) Maria Kalina (nee Binder) – December 4th, 2016

KALINA, Margarete “Marguerite” Maria
June 27, 1937 – December 04, 2016
Marguerite’s Legacy: “Your Word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105)
Our beloved Mom, Oma, Oma Bus, Auntie and Friend always encouraged those around her to know that when her time on earth had ended, she would simply “be changing addresses”. In the early morning hours of Sunday, December 04, 2016, Marguerite changed her address from Airdrie, Alberta to the eternal mansion of her Savior and Lord.
She immigrated to Canada with Wilf and son, Peter in 1960 from Germany. Their daughter, Angie was born in Drumheller, Alberta shortly after arriving. The family went on to live and work in Calgary before Marguerite and Wilf eventually settled in Airdrie nearly 20 years ago. Marguerite worked as a seamstress for a while but loved being a wife and homemaker the most.
Marguerite was blessed with an innate gift of creating. Be it fashion, decorating, cards or crafts, she truly had an artisan’s touch; always with a view toward excellence. Her signature piece was her ability to create amazing “roses and bouquets” crafted from simple coffee filters. Every one of her projects was always managed with a spirit of grace, fun and laughter.
She enjoyed trips in the motor home through the mountains, connecting with all of her family, feeding the birds and spoiling her dog.
Her life journey led her to her greatest passion. She came to know a personal and intimate relationship with God through Christ Jesus that infused everything she did. She was an instrument of God’s hand in the lives of so many people. She had her priorities immovably in place: love Jesus first; then love your husband; then love your family; and then love your friends and all those that Jesus loves.
Marguerite was a spiritual mentor to many people and a wonderful friend. She was a powerful prayer warrior and loved to share and teach what she learned about God’s Word. She will be remembered as a person who always had a desire to learn more about Scripture. Her Bible was falling apart and highlighted everywhere. At the end of her living years, she still often said she was “blessed to be a blessing”.
Her absence will be grieved and she will be missed by family and friends. She leaves son, Peter Kalina (Kathy Wilson); daughter, Angie Martin (Bill); Denise Kalina; grandchildren, Matt Kalina (Candi), Lyndsy Roberts (Matt), Jenny and Jeff Kalina, Kim and Becky Martin; family in Germany; Tammy and Darren Anderson and their children and grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Chris), Chase, Brennan and Bryson; many close friends; and many other friends including all her brothers and sisters in Christ.
She was predeceased by her lifelong soul mate and late husband of 59 years. She left us peacefully knowing her 2 favorite guys (her Lord Jesus and her “Schatz”, her knight in shining armour, Wilf) would be there to help her move into her new place.
“We will see you again – in Paradise – no suffering – because you were born again”
