MARGARET “Mugs” HAMMER
(1929-2017)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Margaret Hammer of Coleman, Alberta (affectionately known as “Mugs”) who was blessed with 87 years before she was called to be with the Lord on July 11, 2017 while surrounded by loving family and the compassionate care givers at the CNP Health and Continuing Care Centre.
Margaret was born on October 3, 1929 in Drumheller, Alberta to parents Alexander and Margaret Stewart. From an early age, she was instilled with a sense of pride and appreciation for family and hard work. A lovely and fun loving young lady, her compassionate nature won the affections of a handsome young man, Norman Hammer, and they were further blessed with two children. Her greatest joys came from times spent with her beloved Norman and her family – they were the greatest pride and joy that filled her heart with gladness.
Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, making doll clothes, gardening and playing card games and spoiling her grandchildren. Mugs was the center of our family and an inspiration to us all. She was honest in her words and generous in her actions. She lived a full and wonderful life and blessed many people leaving a mark in this world that will not be soon forgotten. May our “Mugs” find peace and happiness in paradise walking hand in hand with her beloved husband, “Stubby”.
She is survived by her loving children, Peggy (Bill) Dingreville of Lundbreck and Barrett (Wendy) Hammer of Burmis; grandchildren, Kristy (Michael) Tracey, Nicholas (Andrea) Dingreville , Tanis (George) Duncan, Tara (Marisa) Hammer and Brandon (Mandy) Hammer; great grandchildren, Ryan, Regan Kyle, Connor, Hayley, Avery and Peyton; brother, Archibald (Sandy) Stewart; sisters, Christine Hulbert and Sandra (Ernie) Kirschman; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Norman “Stubby” Hammer; her parents, Alexander and Margaret Stewart; her sisters, Alice, Gawdun, Mary Fandrick, Renee Yeliga.
