Margaret Margie Currie (nee Healy) – 1943-2017

Margaret “Margie” Currie (nee Healy)
1943-2017
Our beautiful Margie passed away peacefully on the evening of
Monday, April 3, 2017. She will be remembered for her great sense of
humour, her caring nature, and the love she had for her family and
friends.
She was born in Brooklyn, NY on June 16, 1943, and was raised
in Milltown, NB to Eileen Healy [nee Miller] and Joseph Healy of
Milltown, NB. She was the first child of seven. Margie was predeceased
by her first and second husbands, Joseph (Gus) Boudreau and Clifford
Fournier.
Margie is remembered lovingly by her husband, Jerry Currie;
children, Susan, Marc (Shana), Peter and Kevin Boudreau (Cynthia), and
Sahmon Williams; her step-children, Catherine Kuwertz, Rebekah
Josberger, and Elizabeth Hope; her grandchildren, Mikaela, Braedon,
William, Neomi, Isabelle, and Catherine; step-grandchildren, Margaret
Emily, Daniel, Mia, Amanda, Emily, and Haven; siblings, Joe (Cathy),
Phillip, Elizabeth (Daniel Mackin), and John (Carolyn); great aunt to
Olivia, and Zoe; and soon to arrive, Adele, as well as many nieces and
nephews. She also enjoyed a special mother/daughter relationship with
her nieces Mary Lou and Ann Marie Babineau.
Margie had many passions in her life outside of family. She
loved music (Playing piano and the violin), the outdoors (skiing,
kayaking), and the many classes and time spent at the YMCA. Beyond all
others, her true passion was nursing and caring for people in need.
While she was a nurse in the St. Stephen and Calais hospitals, she
took on the most difficult areas of the hospital and put everything
she had in to caring for her patients. Often times she would visit
patients who did not have any family in the palliative care unit after
her shift. She believed everyone should know that someone cares for
them.
Her family would like to recognize and thank all the nurses
and doctors in the Saint John Regional Hospital and Dr. Everett
Chalmers Hospital who cared for her over the last three
weeks.
As per Margie’s request, there will be no visitation. Please
join us on Friday, April 7, 2017 for Margie’s funeral Mass which will
be celebrated at 12:05 p.m. at St. Dunstan’s Roman Catholic Parish,
Fredericton.
In memory of Margie’s love for bright colours, you may choose
to wear pink and/or purple to the funeral in her honour. In lieu of
flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a breast cancer charity
of your choice.
