Marcel Vincent

Passed away in Sudbury, Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at the age of 81 years. He was born in Lavigne, to Henri and Emma (née Latendresse) Vincent. Marcel was the youngest son of 18 children. Bereaved by his remaining siblings, Laurette Sauve (late Fern), Gerard (Yollande) and Paulette Rivet (Jacques). Marcel moved to Sudbury and met the love of his life Gilberte, daughter of Philippe and Jeanne d’Arc Riopel (Gervais). Gilberte’s family quickly became some of his closest friends: Robert (Yollande), Georgette Lafreniere (late Conrad), late Richard (Rose), Madeleine Chrétien (Leon) and Claude. Together, they raised three loving children Carole (Denis Alain), Pierrette (Dave Schroeder) and Normand (Ginette Roy). Then came the real joys of his life, his beautiful grandchildren: Ginette Toivonen (John), Alain Lefebvre, Joel Alain (Jaime), Andre Lefebvre (Jillian), Renee Lefebvre (Jason Doucet), Patrick Alain, Philippe Vincent, Luc Vincent (Kayla), Maxine Vincent (Justin), Desiree Lapierre (Devin). The joy continued with the gift of great-grandchildren: Keenan, Riley, Katie, Haiden, Isaac, Cameron, Mikko, Jonah and Jude. Marcel spent many years at his cottage in Lavigne where he built happy memories with his family and friends. Although his favorite pastime was spending time surrounded by his children and grandchildren, he also enjoyed hunting with the Lucky 9 and 12 Pack hunting clubs, wintering in Florida and travelling through North America and Europe. Marcel worked 31 years for INCO, retiring in 1984. The family will receive relatives and friends at the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 222 Lasalle Blvd. East, Sudbury, Saturday February 11 2017 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the Chapel. Donations to Arthritis Society can be made by cheque or online at www.cooperativefuneralhome.ca.
