It is with broken hearts that the family of Manorma Sharma announce her passing. Manorma was born in Navua, Fiji Islands, on September 14, 1938 to Shankar and Ram Raji. She passed away peacefully in Maple Ridge on December 2, 2017 surrounded by family.
Predeceased by her husband Raj and her sister Snay.
Manorma will be forever remembered by her daughters Arti and Abha, sons-in-law Shailendra and Christopher, grandchildren Ashleen and Shaileen, sister Gyan Mati and Amla, brothers-in-law Suruj, Vijendra and Alan, nephews Ben, Ron and Christopher and their families.
Manorma married the love of her life, Rajendra, on December 16, 1961 in Fiji and emigrated to Canada in 1963. She worked tirelessly with great passion to earn her Bachelors of Arts degree from UBC. Manorma was a teacher who was admired and loved by students, parents and colleagues. She taught Home Economics and primary grades in McBride, Powell River and Kelowna. Manorma was known for her boundless energy and tenacious spirit which she used to pursue her numerous interests and talents: sewing, gardening, reading and travelling, to name a few. She had a passion for entertaining and was admired for her masterful culinary skills. Visitors to her home were always treated to one of her gastronomic delights. She had a remarkable and inherent gift for gardening and was able to make anything grow and flourish under her watchful eye. She was skilled seamstress and her family and friends all benefited from her ability to create and mend garments.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday December 7, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Maple Ridge Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 11969 216th Street Maple Ridge, BC.
