Joan Marie MacDonald, age 80, of Thorburn, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2017 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow with her family by her side.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Mervin and Leona (Ogden) MacLeod, Thorburn.
Joan was a member of Union Presbyterian Church, Thorburn. In her earlier years, she worked at C.K.E. C. Radio Station, as a clerk at Crescent Jewelers and MacLean Johnson Wholesalers and assisted her husband with Canacan’s Insurance Appraisals
A loving mother and grand mother, she will be dearly missed by her daughter; Leah MacDonald (Paul Jeans), Stellarton; son-in-law Jamie Patchett, Thorburn; grand children Jessica Cameron, Julie Clarke, Kelly Helin, Tamara Cameron, Crystal MacDonald, Shelby MacDonald and Jacob MacDonald; great grand children Bryson and Riley Helin; her partner Herman Martell, Arichat and sister Donna Chisholm, Ontario.
She was predeceased by her husband Wilfred Ernest MacDonald, son Lorne MacDonald and daughter Lorna Patchett.
Joan is resting at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville with visiting on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Her funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville with Rev. Jeff Lackie officiating. Burial will be in Thorburn Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations may be made to a charity of your choice
