Obituary for Luigi “Lou” Dalessio
Luigi Dalessio
Peacefully with his family by his side, on December 7th, 2017 at 5:01am Lou went to meet his Lord, at the age of 88. Beloved husband of 58 years to Margaret (nee Coneen). Loving father of Dale (Drew) and Karen (David). Grampa to Sarah (John) Jacob, Scott, Joshua, Ryan and Emerald. Dear brother of Andrea. Predeceased by his sister Gloria and her husband Al of Deep River. Very special Uncle to Linda, Carolyn and Brian, Gary and Erna, Rick and Andree, and Robert. Great Uncle to Sonja, Graham and Jonathon. Lou held a special place in his heart for his great-great niece Isla.
Lou was a dedicated employee of Joseph Brant Hospital for 25 years and was active in his card and bingo circles during his retirement. He was well known in the Church and in the community especially in the local grocery stores. His love of gardening and preserving tomatoes led to many “domestic discussions” regarding the mess in the kitchen with Margaret. We all enjoyed the amazing spaghetti sauce he would create with those tomatoes. We are going to miss that.
Lou loved to share stories about growing up in the little town of Blackville, New Brunswick and fishing in the Miramichi River. He was an interesting man. Lou will be missed by many friends and family especially his long-time birthday partner Jane and dear neighbour and honorary daughter Kathy. The family extends their thanks and appreciation to the nurses of the sixth floor at Joseph Brant Hospital working the day and the night of December the 6th for their care and compassion.
Visitation at Smiths Funeral Home, Guelph Line (1167 Guelph Line, Burlington, Ontario) Monday, December 11th from 3-8pm. Celebration of Life to commence at the Funeral Home at 5:30pm with refreshments. Private Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
