Lorna B. Etter
1925-2017
It is with deep sadness that the family of
Lorna Betty Etter, age 92, of Point de
Bute, announce her passing. Lorna passed away, surrounded by loving
family, on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at the Sackville Memorial
Hospital where she had been a patient for less than three weeks.
Born in Brockhampton, England, she was a daughter of
the late Percy and Frances (Griffiths) Bellamy.
She emigrated to Jolicure, NB with her parents, two brothers and
two sisters in 1927. They settled at a farm “Over the
Lakes” in Jolicure. Lorna was the last surviving member
of her immediate family.
Lorna was a member of
St. Mark’s Anglican Church and St. Mark’s ACW. She was an
avid quilter, knitter and craft person throughout her lifetime.
Besides her parents, Lorna was predeceased by her
husband Donald, sisters Mary Baughan and Joan Stiles, brothers
Hastings “Kelly” and William Bellamy (who died as a prisoner
of war in 1945), infant son Gordon, youngest daughter Lori Legassick
and son-in-law Keith Fury.
Lorna is survived by
daughters Marilyn Downs (Bill), Linda Fury, Virginia Tingley (Austin),
Rosalie Landry (Edgar), son Stephen (Debi) and son-in-law Peter
Legassick. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren, 36 great
grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren and 4 great great great
grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews were also very dear
to her.
Arrangements have been entrusted to
Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St.,
Sackville, NB, from where visiting hour will be held on Wednesday from
2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. A funeral service celebrating Lorna’s
life will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2017 at 2 pm from St.
Mark’s Anglican Church, Mt. Whatley, NB, Rev’d Lidvald Haugen-Strand
officiating. Burial will follow immediately in the parish
cemetery.
Lorna’s family wish to extend a
sincere thank you to Dr. Milne and Dr. Stewart for care throughout the
years, nursing staff at the Sackville Memorial Hospital, and to
Countryside Residence in Port Elgin for the special care given to her
during the past three years.

choice.
