Lloyd Simmons Kendrick
1942-2016
Lloyd Simmons Kendrick,74, of Weldon passed away on
Wednesday, December 21st, 2016 at the Moncton Hospital with his loving
family by his side.
Lloyd was born in Lewisville on June 30, 1942 the son of
the late William and Hilda (Simmons) Kendrick.
He was a mechanic and worked at Frank Steeves Ltd. in
Weldon for 12 years then went to Lounsbury’s for 27 years until his
retirement. He really enjoyed working in his garage usually
fixing a vehicle or lawnmower for friends and family. He built many
items, including a well-driller, several utility trailers, a dump and
snow plow for his truck to name a few. He was a story teller
and loved to reminisce about the past, about his first job in a winter
logging camp or how he use to “love” to camp in the flies
and rain. Lloyd loved gardening having spent numerous hours in his
vegetable garden, he was very proud of his potatoes. He was a member
of the Weldon Baptist Church. His faith was very important
to him. He became a Christian in 1985. Lloyd loved music
and entertaining, he was a man of many talents. He loved
singing with his friends and would also do the occasional puppet show
at nursing homes, this is when he was his
happiest. He got to fulfill his long time wish of preaching
a sermon. Lloyd definitely had a way with people and it came
naturally for him to share his faith with others. He had a great sense
of humor and loved to joke around and tease. He was a
terrific dad and grandfather and have left his family with great
memories and they felt blessed to have had him in their lives. After a
battle with Ocular Cictricial Pemphigoig Auto Immune Disease for 4
years, which affected his sight, we are sure he is now clearly seeing
the face of his Lord hearing the words “Well done my good and
faithful servant.”
He will be deeply missed by his son, Michael Kendrick
(Kimberly) of Fredericton; daughter, Rhonda Babineau (Norman) of
Weldon; precious grandson, Will “My Boy”; his loving sister,
Ella ; mother-in-law, Dorothy Power of Pine Glen; brothers-in-law,
Dennis Power (Sandy) of Pine Glen, Fred Power (Heather) of Penobsquis;
sister-in-law, Deborah Geldart of Moncton. He will also be
missed by several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his beloved wife,
Helen (Power) Kendrick; sister, Dorothy Kendrick; father-in-law,
Hansel Power.
He will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home with
visitation on Wednesday evening from 7-9 pm. The funeral
service will be held at the Albert County Funeral Home on Thursday,
December 29th, 2016 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Blaine Steeves
officiating. Following the service the family will be
meeting for further fellowship and for refreshments at the funeral
home. Interment will be in the Grey’s Island Cemetery,
Hillsborough, NB, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Weldon Baptist Church
or the Friends of The Moncton Hospital in Lloyd’s memory would be
greatly appreciated.
The family would like to say a very special thank you to
the nurses of 4600 and Palliative Care for all the caring ways and
support shown not only to Lloyd but to all his family, to the many
friends who have stopped in and been there for us during this
difficult time and to Pastor Blaine and Rev. Dean for all your
comforting words and just being there. All the acts of
kindness shown will never be forgotten.
