Following a graceful struggle with cancer, Lillian May (Dyer) Armstrong, age 73, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at the Sussex Health Centre. She was born on October 27, 1944, in Sussex, NB, wife of Kenneth Armstrong and a daughter of the late William and Alice (Wheaton) Dyer.
Lillian said many times in the past four months that she was ready to go to Heaven if she couldn’t get better and said she was not afraid to die.
She worked at NB Tel / Aliant for over 32 years, enjoyed gardening and travelling. She was a member of the Norton Baptist Church.
Lillian will be sadly missed and forever loved by husband Kenneth of 53 years; son Eric; grandsons Ryan, Justin (Alisha); great-grandson Logan; brother Walter; very special friends Shirley & Keith Fletcher; several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Besides her parents, Lillian was predeceased by her sisters Minnie, Ella, Helen and brothers William (Sonny), Vincent, Wesley and Ralph.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Scott Green, Dr. Margot Burnell, Dr. Sharon Chiu and the staff of Saint John Regional Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital and Sussex Health Centre for care and kindness shown to Lillian during her short illness.
Private arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) with a Memorial Service to be held at a later date. Donations in memory of Lillian may be made to Bobby’s Hospice, Sussex Health Centre Foundation or to the charity of your choice.
