Lewis Douglas England – 1944-2017

Lewis Douglas England
1944-2017
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Lewis
Douglas England, age 72, on August 28th, 2017
at the Highcrest Nursing Home in Sherbrooke surrounded by
family.
Born on October 4th, 1944 in
Antigonish, he was the son of the late Anna (Grady) and Alonzo
England.
Lewie spent most of his life living in Mulgrave. He
was a dedicated and lifelong employee of the pulp and paper mill in
Point Tupper, NS for 38 years.
Lewie had a love of the outdoors, spending time
fishing and hunting. He often enjoyed time spent on his four wheeler,
snowmobile or with family at the cottage in McArras Brook. He was a
very kind and caring man and especially proud of his granddaughters.
He was a member of the Kinsmen Club and the St. Lawrence Roman
Catholic Church Council. Lewie was an avid bowler and never missed a
chance to roll a strike. He was a strong man facing many challenges
during his life, but not once ever uttering a word to complain of the
difficulties he faced.
He is survived by his son Ronnie (Jennifer);
granddaughters Sarah and Emma; brothers, Alison (Carol), Mulgrave;
Carson (Josie), Antigonish; niece, Jo Ann England Ortega; nephews,
Brian, Jamie, Stephen England and many extended family.
He was predeceased by his dear wife of 51 years, Cathy and
loving daughter Lisa.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ronald
Mccormick, Dr. Philip Cooper and the Oncology Department of St.
Martha’s Regional Hospital. A heartfelt thank you to the
staff of the Highcrest Nursing Home in Sherbrooke. Lewie was known for
teasing the staff and always trying to get a smile or a chuckle from
them.
Visitation will be held in the Mulgrave and Area
Resting Place from 6pm to 9pm on Thursday, August
31st.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2pm on
Friday, September 1st at St. Lawrence Roman
Catholic Church in Mulgrave. Father Allan MacPhie presiding. Burial in
Mulgrave cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care and
direction of MacIsaac Funeral Home, Antigonish.
Family flowers only please. Donations may be made
to Cathy’s Place, the Jordon Myles Foundation or Mulgrave
and Area Resting Place.
