1926-2017
BASS; LESTER CLEMENT (1926-2017) Mr. Lester C. Bass, of North
Head, Grand Manan, NB passed away at the Grand Manan Hospital on
Wednesday, January 11th, 2017 with his family
by his side.
He was the son of the late Ernest and Jennie (Beale) Bass.
Lester grew up in North Head in a family of ten siblings; he was the
last surviving member. He enrolled in the Army at the age of sixteen,
near the end of the war. In his early years of employment, Lester
worked with heavy equipment and ship building. During most of the
remaining years of his career, he worked in all aspects of the fishing
industry. After his retirement he spent many hours mending
twine.
Lester is survived by one daughter, Kimberly Cormier-Miller
(David) from Toronto, ON, one special daughter-in-law Jocelyn Brown of
Grand Harbour, three sons; Gary Bass (Ruth) of Langley, BC, Philip
Bass (Nancy Murphy) of Yarmouth, NS and Kevin Cormier of St. George,
NB; five grandchildren Sean (Aishia), Tasha (Jaap), Kathryn (Mike),
Laura, and Lauren (Andrew), seven great grandchildren (with one on the
way), and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his
wife Helen (Wilcox) Bass (2007), five sisters, Alma Naves, Margaret
Locke, Alice Cook, Hazel Titus and Frances Fleet and five brothers,
George, Charles, William, Harold, and Sheldon Bass.
Visiting
will take place from Ells Funeral Home on Thursday January 12, 2017
from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be from the Community
Life Church, Grand Harbour on Friday January 13, 2017, at 1:00
pm.
Donations in Lester’s memory can be made
to The Grand Manan Hospital Foundation, or the charity of the
donor’s choice.
