It is with deepest sorrow and loss that we announce the passing of Leif Ahle, 91, of Florence on Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, with his loving family by his side.
Born April 1, 1926 in Copenhagen, Denmark, he was the son of the late Richard and Jenny (Jensen) Ahle.
For a number of years, Dad worked in the Florence Colliery before starting his business in TV repair. He operated Florence TV Sales and Service until 1995 and over that time made many, many friends on the Northside and beyond.
He is survived by his daughters Pauline, Chrissy (Keith) and Corrine, and son Terry (Heather), brothers Felix (Diane) and Richard, sister Esther (Elmer), and sister-in-law Theresa (Tease).
“Poppy” was very special to his grandchildren Ricky, Ronnie, Krista, Jessica, Justin, Josh, Leslie and Jenny, and his great-grandchildren Logan, Jarod, Kendra, Hayden, Madison, Evan, Julia, Kinley, Emily, Ethan and Christena, all of whom he loved dearly.
Besides his parents, Leif was predeceased by his loving wife, Amelda, sons Leslie and Ricky, daughter Debbie, son-in-law Innes, sister Gretta, brother Erik, sister-in- law Mary, and brother-in-law George.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, September 21,2017, at the J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, Sydney Mines from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held in St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or, 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 22 with Fr. Peter McLeod officiating. The burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Florence.
