In Loving Memory Of
Lavina Anne Heppner
Lavina Anne was born to William and Eva Fairburn on October 19, 1942 in Regina General Hospital. They lived on a farm in the Wilcox, SK area until Lavina was eight, at which time they moved into Regina.
Later Lavina attended Thompson Public School and Scott Collegiate High School. At the age of nine, Lavina attended Strasbourg Bible Camp with her sister Verla, where they both asked Jesus to be their Saviour.
Soon after graduating, she moved to Calgary where she worked in various retail, banking, and insurance jobs. In February of 1982, she took a receptionist and treasurer job at the First Alliance Church where she worked for eight years but was actively involved at the Evangelical Free Church. This is where Alvin Heppner met her while visiting his sister who was Lavina’s friend.
Alvin and Lavina got married on October 21, 1989 in Calgary and moved to Alvin’s farm near Valleyview, AB. She embraced her new roles of instant wife, mother, and grandmother to seven which became 10 grandchildren. This was an obvious change of lifestyle for her from city life to the country living which she loved and shared with Alvin over the next 27 years. On the morning of January 19, 2017, Lavina passed away suddenly of a massive heart attack enroute to Edmonton.
Lavina is survived by her husband Alvin Heppner, sister Verla (Ken) Campbell, and half-sister Shirley (Tony) Prokop; step-children: Walter, Marcella (Dale) Hufnagel, Evelyn (Jon) Siebert, and Esther (Gerald) Finster; grandchildren: Joanna (Paul) LeDrew, Sherri Hufnagel, Benjamin Hufnagel, Andrew (Melissa) Siebert, Lois (Jerry) Eagles, Timothy Siebert, Kyle (Kate) Finster, Crystal (Chuck) Neufeld, Kevin (Loreea) Finster, and Joshua Finster; great-grandchildren: Sawyer, Titus, Elianna, Emma, Hope, Rayleigh, Brielle, Anna.
She was predeceased by her mother Eva Grace Fairburn, father William McDougal Fairburn and great-granddaughter Janessa Siebert.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at 2:00pm, at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Valleyview (4914 49 St.). Interment to follow at Valleyview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be given to Northern Canada Evangelical Mission (Box 3030, Prince Albert, SK, S6V 7V4).
