Peacefully at the Red Oak retirement home Kanata, on Sunday November 26, 2017. Laura Lillian age 92, born April 7, 1925 in Calgary Alberta. Beloved wife of the late John. Dear mother of Jim (Karen) of Mississauga and Joy McCurdy (Ron) of Richmond. Loving grandmother to Beth and John McCurdy. Daughter of the late Daniel and Alice Kelley. Sister of the late Sylva, Neva, Verna and Raymond. Born in Calgary and moved to Edmonton where she met her future husband. Married in Vancouver in 1945 Laura moved with John who was in the RCAF to Ottawa in 1952 where her children were born. Posting to Dayton, Ohio and to Baden Soellingen, Germany followed always moving back to Ottawa and finally retiring in Richmond, Ontario. Her many interests included golf, curling, bowling, darts, The Royal Canadian Legion branch 625 and most of all her grandchildren. Many thanks to the staff at the Red Oak and her team of caregivers, specially Karen B. and Corrienne M. Friends may pay respects at the Kelly Funeral Home, Kanata Chapel, 580 Eagleson Road, Kanata, ON, K2M 1H4, 613-591-6580 On Wednesday, November 29, 2017 from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Thursday November 30, 2017 at 1 pm. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
