Obituary of Kenneth Austin
AUSTIN, Kenneth William “Ken”
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our father Ken (Snap) Austin. On Tuesday August 8,2017 in his 88th year after a courageous battle with cancer at Pleasant Meadow Manor where he resided in Norwood Ontario. Ken was born on Nov. 17, 1929 in Springhill Nova Scotia, Ken was predeceased by his loving wife Noreen of 46 years and daughter Marilyn Fimo (Dave). He is survived by daughter Debbie Glen (d.Barry), Cheryl Holt (Steve), son Dan Mattix(Susan), Frank Mattix (Kim), daughter Christine Austin and Cyndy Abraham (John). Ken will be missed by his sister Dorothy Sullivan, brothers Doug and Ralph Austin. Ken had 18 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. Ken will be missed by many nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers in law. Ken is predeceased by his loving parents Charles and Ethel Austin, brothers Monroe, Art, David, Ray and his sister Iris Halliday. Ken was a truck driver for Kingsway Transport for many years until he retired and had such a love for hockey, camping, hunting and a fiddle song to two step to. Ken had such a sense of love for everyone, he was so grateful to all the doctors, nurses and PSW’s that took such good care of him and the family would like to thank them all for the special care they showed him. A memorial celebration will be held on Saturday August 12, 2017 from 1:00-4:00 PM at the R.C. Legion Br. 499 ( 15 Fraser Street, Angus, Ontario L0M 1B0). Ken and Noreen will be laid to rest at “Home” in Springhill, Nova Scotia at a later date.
