Kenneth Warren Smith passed away peacefully on Monday, August 14, 2017 at the Dr. V. A. Snow Centre, Hampton, NB. He was born on November 21, 1928 in Smithtown, NB and was the son of the late Warren Wilmot and Alice Marjorie (Schriver) Smith. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife P. Marilyn Smith; and brother H. Roy Smith. Ken is survived by his sister, Barbara Bustin, Fredericton; son, Kirk Smith (Lesley), Smithtown; step-son Howard LaBillois(Suzanne Kingston), Hampton; cherished grandchildren K. Wesley Smith, River Smith, Charles LaBillois, and Magnus LaBillois; and several nieces and nephews.
Ken worked for several years as a mechanic for Sam Delong in Hampton; as a butcher while running the Smithtown Meat Market; and was a member of the Canadian Paperworkers Union, Local 601, working for Rothesay Paper and Irving Pulp and Paper, retiring as a Control Room Operator in 1991. He enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting, and especially talking with friends and family around the kitchen table. He liked mechanical work, often taking on small to moderate repair projects for friends and family, ranging from chainsaws and lawn mowers to cars and trucks. He worked hard with every endeavour, was modest of his accomplishments, but took great pride in his work. He was a loyal and dedicated husband and father, and was respected by all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Sunday, August 20 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, August 21 at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Smithtown, NB.
