Obituary for Kenneth (Bobby) Rudolph Hope

Born: Paynes Bay, St. James, Barbados, West Indies
Kenneth “Bobby” Hope passed away peacefully on December 13, 2017 at approximately 12:45 am at Markham Stouffville Hospital, after a long bout of Alzheimer’s Disease dating back to 2008. Kenneth is survived by his wife Grace Hope of 42 years and his two children Natalie and Justin Hope. He also leaves behind two grandchildren, Nylah Hope-Selkin and Noah Bobby Hope-Selkin in addition to his sister, Annette Bishop, brother Tommy Hope, close cousins Rawle and Calvin Hope. Kenneth is also survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Kenneth immigrated to Canada from Barbados in 1968 to make a new life as a Master Plumber and Entrepreneur. He was a hard worker with a strong work ethic and passed on these invaluable traits to both of his children. Kenneth always prided himself on being a good provider for his family, which he was.
Kenneth was a spectator of many sports like baseball, tennis and golf, but he had a love affair with 10-pin bowling. He was a passionate competitor in the sport, organized leagues and travelled all over North America to compete. Having grown up by the sea in Barbados, he was also an avid swimmer in his early years.
Kenneth loved good food and was an amateur Chef by his own right. He also had a love of music of all genres and had a vast collection of vinyl classics which he played at his frequent house parties. Many friends and family enjoyed his specially curated meals and house parties.
Kenneth was a generous and caring soul who left us all too soon. His sharp wit, gregarious personality and infectious laugh will be remembered by all those that knew him and his legacy will be carried on in the hearts of all those that loved him.
A Memorial Service for Kenneth a.k.a. “Bobby” will be held at Chapel Ridge Funeral Home, 8911 Woodbine Avenue, in Markham on Wednesday December 20, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, his family appreciates donations to the Toronto Alzheimer’s Society under the name “Kenneth Hope.”
