Kathryn Frances Bowen 15 novembre 1926 – 4 avril 2017

Kathryn Bowen (nee Wiswell) passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at the Halifax Infirmary after a brief illness.
Kathryn was born in Halifax and completed her schooling there. She later trained as a nurse in Quebec City and practiced in the Royal Canadian Navy and at the Victoria General Hospital. In her later years, she enjoyed visiting with her family and socializing with her friends. She was an avid reader and loved volunteering at her local church. Kathryn was seen as an important member of her church community, especially the Mother’s Union and the Bible Study Group.
Kathryn is predeceased by her parents Arthur Clifford and Margaret Wiswell, her husband James, her brother William and sister Elizabeth. She is survived by her three sons Ian (Dorene), Keith (Joyce) and Bruce (Lori) and her grandchildren, Meghan, Meredith and Morgan. She is also remembered by her four nieces, Susan, Kathy, Martha and Betty and her great nieces and greatnephews.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to the nurses and staff on 8.1 at the Halifax Infirmary for the compassionate care that they provided to Kathryn and her family. A special thank you is also extended to Pat Pye, for her unique and special friendship with Kathryn.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no visitation. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 1:00 PM at St. James Anglican Church, 2668 Joseph Howe Drive, Halifax NS, B3L 4E4. There will be a reception to celebrate her life after the service in the Church Hall. In lieu of flowers, family and friends are asked to make a contribution to the Church in her name.
