Kathleen Engel – 2017

Kathleen Rose Engel was born on September 12, 1961 in Medicine Hat, Alberta and passed away in Calgary on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at the age of 55 years. She is survived by her loving son, Blaze. She is also survived by her three brothers and their families: Michael (Lynn) Durbeniuk and their daughters, Alecia and Alana (Greg Torgerson) and their children, Cordelia, Bianca and Gregory of Medicine Hat; Gary (Karen) Durbeniuk and their sons, David, Christopher and Alexander of Calgary; and Ron Durbeniuk (Connie Boss) of Airdrie and his daughters, Ashley, Brianna (Mike Lavallee) and Kaitlyn Jalbert (Kyle) and their son, Banx. Kathy was predeceased by her parents, Stanley and Ella Durbeniuk; and her grandparents, Hans and Edith Hanson and Joe and Rose Bennick. Kathy was born and raised in Medicine Hat and held a variety of jobs until medical conditions forced her to quit work. Kathy always bore her heavy burdens with a smile and positive attitude. She was a tremendous mother, friend, sister and aunt. Kathy was very close to her mother and grandparents and spent a tremendous amount of time with them. Kathy’s love for her son Blaze was unbelievable and they had a wonderful and close bond. She was always thinking of him and others before herself. We are all proud of her and what she brought to each and every one of us. We will truly miss her but she will never be out of our thoughts and prayers.
