Katherine Betty Ross

Ross, Katherine Elizabeth “Betty” (nee French)
Passed away peacefully in her home with family and friends by her side on Tuesday, November 29, 2016. She was in her 85th year. Beloved wife of the late Alexander Ross. Cherished mother of Scott (Carrie) Ross of Crescent Beach, B.C., Kevin (Tracey) Ross of Wainfleet, Cindy (David) Chadbourne of North Bay and Bevan (Cindy) Ross-Cohen of Toronto. Proud grandmother to Brittni, Alexander, Liam, Jules, Melany, MacKechnie, Angus, Jack, Jordyn and great-grandmother of Teddy. Betty will be fondly remembered by her cousins Mary and Judy Millen, her nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Katherine is predeceased by her siblings Lou and Jack.
Betty was a kind and caring person who made many friends in both communities of Mattawa and North Bay. As a volunteer with Meals on Wheels she developed everlasting friendships. She enjoyed curling, playing cards, darts and various outdoor activities, especially her time spent at Talon Lake where anyone was welcome to join her on a morning kayak ride or to sit and enjoy a sunset. Betty will be fondly remembered and missed by her Talon Lake family and her cottage neighbor and niece Dawn (Dave) Dedels, with whom she shared many happy memories. The family would like to extend its gratitude and thanks to the wonderful caring staff of North Bay’s ER, EMS, VON and CCAC.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the United Church in Mattawa on Saturday, January 14th at 11 am. Cremation has taken place at Forest Lawn Crematorium. If desired, donations to the Nipissing Serenity Hospice or Near North Palliative Care – Mattawa Team would be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.
