Van Bakel – Hopper, Karen Elizabeth- Passed away at peace, in the arms of her family, on November 30, 2016, in her 52nd year. Loving wife of Don Hopper, proud and adoring mother of Thomas. Dear daughter of Nick and Donna Van Bakel. Sister of Mike (Andrea), Doug (Michelle), Suzanne (Leah), Kim (Jason Thompson). For Karen, family and friends were everything. She had an incredibly positive outlook on life. To the very last days her focus was on the future and those she loved so dearly. Karen will be deeply missed by her family and a wide circle of friends, colleagues and former students. Thanks to the many dedicated people at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and the Stronach Regional Cancer Centre who cared for Karen. Visitation will be held at the Roadhouse and Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main St. S, Newmarket on Sunday December 4th from 6-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, 17955 Leslie Street, Newmarket on Monday December 5th at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre or the Stronach Regional Cancer Centre would be appreciated.
