Justin Joseph Dufault

Justin Joseph Dufault
October 2, 1973 – December 18, 2016
It is with unbearable grief I announce the passing of my partner, my business partner, my love, Justin Dufault on December 18, 2016 at the age of 43. At the young age of six, Justin knew he wanted to be a funeral director, and was fortunate to spend his life in the profession that he loved. His dream was to open his own funeral home, and in September of 2014 that dream was fulfilled when we opened Choice Memorial. Justin was a tremendously skilled embalmer, and a compassionate, empathetic funeral director. His death is a loss to funeral service.
Before we opened the funeral home – when we actually had some spare time, Justin loved camping, fishing, baseball, golfing and bowling (even though I would tease him that bowling wasn’t a sport and only nerds bowled). He was a great cook and could belt out a mean tune at karaoke.
Justin had a love-hate relationship with the Toronto Maple Leafs, and was on the very edge of converting completely over to becoming a true Flames fan. His love for the Blue Jays however stood the test of time.
To the public, Justin was charming and witty and people genuinely liked him. He made people laugh every day, and made a chosen few feel deeply loved. There was also a side of Justin that people didn’t see. This was a hidden side where he was tormented by memories from his childhood that caused him unbearable pain. Some people are able to overcome traumas of the past, while others unfortunately are not able to. Even though Justin had reached out for help, the pain from his past ended up controlling him, and unfortunately led to this end.
Justin will be dearly missed by his family in Calgary and Ontario. In Ontario he is survived by his only child Gabriel of River Canard, Ontario, whom he loved more than anything in this world; his mother Marlene Dufault; brothers Chris and Michael; and his sister Monique; as well as other extended members. In Calgary, Justin will be dearly missed by his “partner and partner” Teresa Jones and her family, as well as his beloved Maisy – Calgary’s first four-legged warmth, comfort and feel good ambassador. Justin was predeceased by his father Roger Dufault in 2013.
Funeral Service will be held at Choice Memorial (105-4715 13th Street NE) on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at 1:00 pm. Flowers are gratefully declined. It would be so appreciated if donations in Justin’s memory be made to the Children’s Health Foundation (www.childhealth.ca) in appreciation to the London Children’s Hospital who saved Gabriel after a life threatening battle with meningitis. Justin was overwhelmed by the dedication and skill of all the doctors and nurses who worked around the clock for Gabe, and he would be honoured for those donations to go to help others in need.
