June Marguerite Hannon
It is with great sadness that we
announce the passing of June Hannon at the age of 92 on Tuesday,
December 26, 2017 with her loving family by her side. Born in London,
England on June 10, 1925, she was the daughter of Richard and Bessie
(Brooks) Walsh and was raised in Camberley, Surrey,
England.
June was a war bride and a proud
member of the Moncton and New Brunswick War Brides Association. A
long-time resident of North Street, Moncton, she enjoyed gardening,
painting, travelling and worked for many years in ladies’
retail clothing and retired from the T. Eaton
Company.
A self-taught musician, she played the
piano, accordion, mouth organ, composed music and entertained family
and friends whether it be a house party or at the family cottage on
Treasure Island. Music was a great part of her
life.
June was previously a loyal member of
the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #6 and participated in their social
events and annual poppy campaign. She also regularly entertained
disabled war veterans at the George Dumont Hospital
Veteran’s wing for several years, with her music from the
World War II era. She loved to put a smile on their
faces.
Sadly missed by her daughter, Dianne
MacNichol (Bruce) of Salisbury; sons, Brian (France) of Riverview and
Jim (Carolyn) of Amherst, NS; grandchildren, Shonda, Robert, Randy,
Russell, Derek, James, Michael, Daniel and Isabelle and eight great
grandchildren. A brother, John Walsh of Seaford, England;
stepdaughter, Gloria Scribner of Wheaton Settlement; nieces and
nephews in England. Besides her parents, June is predeceased by her
husband, James (1998); infant son, Robert; sister, Gwen; brother
Freddy and a loving companion, Henri Leblanc.
The Hannon family sincerely thanks the
management and staff of Golden Years Estate, who made our
mother’s stay so enjoyable; and your caring and compassion
for all your residents is amazing and well appreciated. Special thank
you to Dr. Sylvie Leblanc and Dr. Marie-Eve Blanchard, as well as the
Palliative Care Unit at the City Hospital for your professionalism and
special attention given to all your patients. June loved you
all.
