Obituary of JOYCE BYRKA
JOYCE BYRKA
(nee HOTZ)
It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother at the age of 97 on Wednesday, October 4, 2017.
Joyce is survived by her daughter Dorothy Jackson, granddaughter Hilary Jackson (Mark Delorme) of Kenora, Ontario and grandson Patrick Jackson of Calgary, Alberta. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Michael (1997), son-in-law Wayne Jackson (2011), her parents, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
Joyce was born in Winnipeg, grew up in Cooks Creek and started working at an early age. She spent most of her working career with Ready Foods (35 years). She enjoyed baking and cooking for her family. Her pyrogies, apple pies and butter tarts will be missed.
Joyce was able to live a long independent life with the support of care workers and her family.
Family would like to thank homecare staff from Winnipeg Regional Health Authority and the staff at Charleswood Centre for their compassionate care.
Flowers gratefully declined. Friends who wish, may make a donation in the memory of Joyce to St. Basil’s Church or a charity of their choice.
Service times are pending.
