Obituary for Josephine Kulasa
On December 24, 2017, Mrs.Josephine Kulasa passed away at the age of 90 years.
Josie will be lovingly remembered by sons, David and Terrence (Yolanta) of Edmonton; daughter, Donna (Ralph) of Qualicum Beach, BC; five granddaughters, Kirsten (Ryan), Lydia, and Beth, all of Errington, BC, Emily (Jonathan) of Toronto, and Rachel (Alex) of Calgary; and nine great-grandchildren. Also survived by sisters, Jean Miskew, Lillian Sharun; and brother,
Ed Tymchyshyn , all of Edmonton. Josie was predeceased by her husband, John; parents,
Michael and Barbara Tymchyshyn of Mundare, AB; and her sister, Nadine Chernichan.
Josie loved working as a waitress at the Edmonton Petroleum Club for 25 years .She also was an active member of St. Josaphat Cathedral, working bingos, attending celebrations, and belonged to the Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League. Josie organized sandwich making for UCWL, which were donated to homeless and women shelters. She loved sewing and gardening, and was a volunteer at St. Michael’s Nursing Home. She lived in her own home until she moved into St. Michael’s Millennium Tower in 2013 at the age of 86, and was the first and only resident who used a computer and sent emails to her friends and granddaughters.
She was very disappointed when she started to lose her eyesight to macular degeneration.

Many thanks to the staff of St. Michael’s Millennium Tower, the Sturgeon Hospital , and the Youville Home in St. Albert for the loving and supportive care they gave Josie.
Divine Liturgy and Burial Service Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral, 10825 – 97 Street, Edmonton. In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made directly to Youville Home, 9 St. Vital Avenue, St. Albert, Ab T8N 2K1
