Joseph Thomas Donohue
Tom passed away peacefully at home in his 89th year. Devoted husband of Wendy Holyer. Beloved father of Mary Lou, Constance Bay ON, Mark (Nancy), Halifax, Sean (Natalie), Ottawa and grandpa to Colson, Tess, Vaughan, Ciara and Lochlan (soon to arrive). Brother of Leo (Veronica), Al (Carmel) and Angela McAdam (Jim). Predeceased by his parents James and Mary (McGrath), Margaret (late Neil Culhane), Anita (late Jim Forrest), Clare, and Urban (late Rosemarie). Brother-in-law to John Holyer (Brenda). Tom will be missed but still loved by all his nieces, nephews and cousins. Many thanks to the Bayshore nurses and RPN’s, especially Maureen and Eric who made his last months comfortable at home, also Dr. Rowan for his compassion and visits. Friends are invited to share their memories of Tom with his family during visitation at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 296 Isabella Street, Pembroke on Monday 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. and after 9 a.m. Tuesday. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday January 24 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Columbkille’s Cathedral, Pembroke. Interment St. Columba’s Cemetery. Tom loved gardening and the out doors long before organic gardening came into vogue. He composted every item imaginable that a racoon would love. He slew many a potato bug in his battle to supply the Church suppers every September. Tom had a generous heart based on his very strong faith. He was quick with a pun and even quicker to offer a helping hand to family and friends. His seemingly miraculous ability to rally from illness may have had a little to do with good genes, but much more to do with his tireless ‘Florence Nightingale’ (Wendy). Rest in peace Tom. Its been a good long journey. In memory of Tom donations to St. Vincent de Paul Society or St. Joseph’s Food Bank would be appreciated. Condolences, tributes, donations www.murphyfuneralhome.ca
